Form Components
- About form components
Beginning in 9.0 SP11, you can create form components and add form components to a form. A form component is a reusable set of form and data controls, subroutines, and form events.
- Create and edit form components
- Add a form component to a form
Form components allow you to reuse a set of form or data controls across multiple forms. You can add multiple form components to a form, and you can add the same form component multiple times.
- Search within a form component
The form component editor in Application Studio allows you to search for controls within an open form component. If your component contains form events or subroutines, you can also search for source elements, variable targets and properties, and variable assignment source formulas.

- Duplicate a form component
You can duplicate an existing form component to create a copy. The form component must be checked in.
- View apps and app items
Apps and app items can be viewed in view-only mode. In this mode, you can access their elements but cannot change the information.
- Delete an app or app item
You can delete unnecessary apps and app items. Deleting destroys all instances for all promotion levels. An app or app item cannot be deleted if it is checked out.
- Print form components
- View history and roll back apps and app items
The history of an app or app item can be viewed in the Item History dialog box. The Item History dialog box also allows for rolling back to earlier versions of the app or item. For files in the Repository, if a file is edited and uploaded again with the same name, its version number is increased. You can roll back to an earlier version if necessary.
- Upload and download form components
- Check in a form component
When a form component is edited, it is automatically checked out to the user. On the screen, text indicates the first and last name of the user that has the component checked out. The component is locked and cannot be accessed by another user. It remains checked out until checked in.
- Undo checkout of a form component
Current edits to a form component can be undone by undoing checkout. Even after changes have been saved, the checkout can still be undone to discard the most recent changes. When undoing checkout, the component remains at the same version as when editing was begun. Checkout cannot be undone to discard the most recent edits if the edits have been checked in. The Undo Checkout tool is unavailable if the component is checked in.
- Find references in Application Studio
In Application Studio there are references from items to other items. For example, you may want to find all the references to a particular repository image in forms, or to find which apps reference a particular subapp. References can be found in projects for an item in the project tree, but not for a project itself. References can be found for all apps and items.
- Delete an app or app item
You can delete unnecessary apps and app items. Deleting destroys all instances for all promotion levels. An app or app item cannot be deleted if it is checked out.
