Manage communications
- About communications
You can change communications settings in Mobile Client.
- Edit communications configuration settings
You can edit the communications configuration settings in Mobile Client. This allows you to change your device ID or time-out settings, or connect to a different server or port. Beginning in 9.0 SP8, you can also clear all data files associated with the current server from your device.
- Edit the device ID
Each device must have a unique ID. Each time an app is recorded, Mobile Client writes a record adding the device ID and a sequence number to it. This allows Mobile Enterprise Platform to track the app, from the device to the server and from the server to the host application data file.
- Edit the IP address and port number
You can change the IP address or port number of the server that the device references when communicating. When the host IP address or port number is changed, Mobile Client establishes a new link.
- Edit communications time-out limits
You can edit the communication and response time-outs in Mobile Client. The response time-out limit is the amount of time a device waits for a response from the application server before it sends the application server a transaction request. The communications time-out limit is the amount of time the device waits for a transaction request to complete.
- Enable or disable Platform Metrics
When enabled, Platform Metrics monitors apps in your environment to detect and diagnose performance issues and user behavior. You can disable Platform Metrics if the system administrator allows users to opt out of Platform Metrics.
- Clear local files
Beginning in Mobile Enterprise Platform 9.0 SP8, you can clear all local Mobile Client files that are associated with the current server. This allows you to change to another server without retaining any data that was previously cached on your device. This option only deletes data files. Files that were saved to your device via the Get File source element will not be deleted.
