Communications source elements
Communications source elements allow for requesting data from the server, invoking a function call from the server, sending a formatted record to a host, and transmitting records in the main output file to the server.
The following communications source elements are available in Application Studio.
Get File
Transfers binary files (for example, media objects) from the host system to devices. These binary objects can be displayed on a form using the Image Control or the Shell Command to display the object (for example, a PDF). Refer to Add a Get File element.
Get Repository File
Downloads a file residing in the Repository in Application Studio to the device. The file can be an image, a Microsoft Word or Excel document, a PDF, etc. Refer to Add a Get Repository File element.
Send Email
Sends an email to one or more recipients from an app. Refer to Add a Send Email element.
Send File
Sends a file to the server, for example, an image that was captured on the device and stored in a directory on the device. The file is sent to a directory on the server that has been configured in Communication Agent Settings using the File drop directory option. Refer to Add Send File element.
Send Signature
Sends captured signature data to the server where it is saved as a bitmap file. Refer to Add a Send Signature element.
Transmit Main Queue
Transmits records in the main output file to the server. Refer to Add a Transmit Main Queue element.
Disconnect from Server
Disconnects a device from the server in order to free up concurrent licenses for other devices to use. Refer to Add a Disconnect from Server element.
Send Notification
Creates server-side notification messages to communicate to Mobile Client. Sending and marking notifications can only be used in apps for Mobile Client. It is not supported in single apps that are packaged for app stores. Refer to Add a Send Notification element.
Mark Notification
Manages the state of the notification messages that are created to communicate to Mobile Client. Sending and marking notifications can only be used in apps for Mobile Client. It is not supported in single apps that are packaged for app stores. Refer to Add a Mark Notification element.
