About Mobile Client for HTML5
Mobile Client communicates with Communication Agent to obtain all of its required files, as well as transmit and receive transaction data. Mobile Client for HTML5 is a browser-based client that runs on any device, with any operating system that supports the latest version of Safari, Chrome, or Edge. All Advanced Inventory app types are supported on Mobile Client for HTML5, including wires, forms, and prompt-response apps.
Because it is browser-based, Advanced Inventory administrators do not install, deploy, or manage Mobile Client for HTML5. This allows administrators and developers to deploy Advanced Inventory apps without installing and managing a client-side container. This client is ideal for companies that deliver apps used by third parties or end customers, as well as for cross-platform desktop user roles. On mobile devices, such as phones and tablets, Mobile Client for HTML5 provides a look and feel similar to native apps.
Mobile Client for HTML5 stores required application data in the device cache, allowing it to run quickly. Unlike the previous Mobile Client Web, Mobile Client for HTML5 can run while disconnected from the network. This allows users to run apps without being connected to the server. For more information about running Mobile Client for HTML5 in a disconnected state, refer to About force cache load.
Beginning in 9.0 SP10, you can troubleshoot apps using Debug Mode in Mobile Client for HTML5. For more information, refer to About debugging apps in Mobile Client for HTML5.
Mobile Client supports multiple languages. A system administrator can modify language settings from Advanced Inventory Platform Manager.
Example: A food and beverage manufacturer creates an app for their retailers that tracks incoming orders and deliveries. The manufacturer provides access to the app by sharing a URL, a username, and password. The retailers then use any device running a supported browser to access the app.
