Printer cutter hardware
Enterprise Printing Platform™ 9 has the ability to enable printer cutter hardware when label data is sent to a supported printer. Often with continuous media, cutting is needed to deliver individual labels ready for placement.
Activating a cutter for Printronix, Zebra, and Intermec printers is carried out by selecting that option on the Label Properties tab in the Label Designer. Selecting Activate Cutter on the Label Properties tab enables cutting after every label, once the label data is passed to the printer.
Note: Depending on your specific printer model, once the printer cutter has been activated (via a label template with the cutter option enabled), the cutter may stay enabled during future printing. It may be necessary to change settings on the printer interface to disable or inactivate the printer cutter.
To activate a printer cutter (Printronix, Zebra, or Intermec), complete the following steps. -
From the application header select Design > Label Designer.
-
Open an existing label template from the Label Template Browser or Create a new label template by selecting File > New Label Template File.
-
Populate the Name, Width, Height, Data Dictionary, and Printer Model fields.
-
With a label template open on the Label Designer page select the Label Properties panel.
-
Select the Activate Cutter checkbox (see figure below). The checkbox will only be present for labels associated with a printer type that supports cutters. When label data is sent to the printer, referencing this label template, a cut will be made after each label is printed.
