Test Enhancement Engine
You can test Enhancement Engine to confirm the updates you make to label templates are complete.
To test Enhancement Engine, complete the following steps in EPP.

Optional. Add an external data source.Step InformationNote:For more information, refer to Add a data source.

Go to Develop > Label Designer, locate a sample label, and identify the variable you want to change.Step InformationNote:Take note of the name of the label template file as you will need it later in this procedure.

Make any necessary changes and save the file.Step InformationNote:Save the label type so it matches the correct printer type.

In Develop > Enhancement Engine, choose or create a test input.Step InformationNote:

Ensure the FORMAT attribute matches the name of the label template and the program.

The format for the PRINTERNAME attribute must match the name of the label template.

The test input is the .xml label request that contains the label variables to which function logic is applied.

You can edit variable names to match the variable you want to change.

Optional. To add any program functions you want to run, complete the following substeps.

Modify the appropriate variable(s) names and values in the function(s).

If you want to print the label, Include the PrintLabels function as the last function.
Step InformationNote: For this step, program function names do not have to match the other names used in previous steps. -

Go to, Enhancement Engine > Test > Output Labels, review the labels and determine if the expected changes occurred in the label.Expected Result

Output: Displays data bout the test, such as test status and test length. It also includes a copy of the Input Data, Input Label, and Output Labels.

Input Data: Displays the original print request.

Input Label: Displays the label data prior to testing the function.

Output Labels: Displays the label data changes applied by the function after the function runs.

Raw Output: Displays the label data changes applied by the function you previously ran.

To save the function, select Apply.

Go to Develop > Enhancement Engine, create a new program, and give it the exact same name as the label template file you created in the previous step.Step InformationNote:For more information, refer to Create a program.

To associate label variable data with the program, for Test Input, select your .xml data file from the list.

Test the function and review the results.
