About configuring settings for Direct for NetSuite
The installed package file automatically configures some of the required NetSuite settings for the Direct for NetSuite solution. Additional configuration steps for the solution and the individual apps are required to best meet your business requirements.
Global NetSuite settings
Direct for NetSuite requires that several settings are configured with specific values in the Setup menu for your NetSuite instance. Before configuring the rest of your solution, determine that these values are set correctly.
Label printing
Some product bundles of Direct for NetSuite support label printing through Cloud Inventory's® Enterprise Printing Platform (EPP), version 9.8.3. Direct supports both the on-premises and remote cloud installations of EPP 9.8.3.
To integrate with Direct for NetSuite, EPP requires at least one on-premises Bridge Application. This is required regardless of whether your EPP solution is on-premises or remote. The Bridge Application allows an application to exist onsite with the printers or at multiple different sites and report back to the EPP instance. Refer to the EPP 9.8.3 Installation documentation.
You also must install the required CA-signed SSL Certificates for both EPP and the Bridge Application.
After EPP and at least one Bridge Application is installed, you can set up the EPP printers, data dictionaries, and label templates required for your Direct for NetSuite solution. After this setup is complete, you must add the corresponding printer names and label names in the Configurations menu. Refer to Configure label printing integration with Enterprise Printing Platform.
After setting up your preferred label printing behavior, you can also configure third-party ASN integration for your printed labels, as well as assign default labels to be printed for specific customers.
Direct for NetSuite configuration elements
Configuration elements let you control the behavior of your Direct for NetSuite apps. This procedure includes defining the default values set for specific fields, as well as how certain options display in the apps. You can assign configuration elements at three levels: company, app-specific, and user-specific. Unique configuration elements are available at each level. Configuration elements assigned at the company level apply throughout the solution, configuration elements assigned at the app level apply to every user experience with the app, and configuration elements assigned at the user level create exceptions for specific user experiences.
For example, if you set the company value of the Default Location configuration element to Warehouse A, then every Direct for NetSuite user has Warehouse A as a default location in every Direct for NetSuite app. Continuing the example, if you assign a user-level value of Warehouse B to the Location configuration element for the user name John, then John's default location is Warehouse B in every Direct for NetSuite app.
App-specific NetSuite settings
After configuring the Direct for NetSuite solution as a whole, you must configure the NetSuite records and settings that each app calls during a transaction. In order to complete a transaction using a Direct for NetSuite app, your NetSuite instance must already include standard records for each warehouse record used in the transaction. Ideally, standard warehouse operations should regularly edit these records in order to ensure up-to-date records.
