About formulas
A formula is a type of data input used when defining source elements, forms, or control structures.
A formula contains data that can be used by an app. A formula is used to create a complex expression that can perform several operations. The results of the formula becomes the source element value if it is a variable's initial value.
A formula is built by adding elements. Add elements by typing text or numbers (if applicable) and/or by selecting (double-clicking) formula elements (source elements, system variables, functions, and event properties) in the Formula Editor. Data elements, form elements, or text elements (including user-defined text IDs) can also be used. Search functionality enables you to find the functions, variables, and elements you need to create new and edit existing formulas.
The formula elements and functions appear in the Formula Editor box when they are selected. Text, repository files, and configuration elements can be selected to include in a formula. If writing a complex formula, it is suggested to perform validation checking, as elements are added to the expression.
