About utilizing a business rule
The business rules feature is Mobile Enterprise Platform's integrated rules engine that lets you incorporate conditional business logic into an app.
When you utilize a business rule, you create conditional logic that causes an app's behavior to change in response to a specific event occurring as a part of application processing.
When a designated event occurs, the rule evaluates a set of predefined conditions, and then makes a process decision within an app's business workflow. You maintain the Business Rules Condition Tables in one place, outside of the app, so when conditions need to be edited, you do not have to add new code to the app or alter its workflow.
You do not have to republish an app if you make changes to its associated business rule decision table. However, users must refresh the app list in the Mobile Client in order for the app to pick up changes made to the table.
You do have to republish the app if you add or change any condition sources or rule results in the business rule definition.
With the addition of business rules, you can simplify workflows because you define within a rule the logic-based variables that would otherwise branch from a Conditional element on your flowchart.
Mobile Enterprise Platform creates a new version of a rule each time you edit it. You can revert to a previous version of the rule if needed.
