Apps
- About apps
Applications, or apps, are created in Application Studio. Apps can be designed for implementing mobile applications for employees using mobile devices in the field. These apps run on the Mobile Client program, which is the Advanced Inventory Platform Manager component that runs on devices.
- Create and edit apps
- Search within an app
The app editor in Application Studio allows you to search within an open app for source elements, variable targets and properties, and variable assignment source formulas. This also searches any subroutines within the app. Beginning in 9.0 SP10, the search bar is located in the search tab in the left rail of the editor. For 9.0 SP9 and earlier, the search box displays in the upper right corner of the editor.
- Publish apps
- Work with promotions
- Select platforms and views
- Package and test an app for an app store
- Define parameters in an app or app item
You can use parameters in apps, subapps, includes, forms, and wires. Parameters are similar to the Variable element, but with an additional "output" property. Parameters marked as "output" have the ability to return information to the app or item in which it is used. An app can return an "output" parameter to the requesting caller if it is generated from a "RunApplication" request from the WebAPI. This is the only interface with this ability.
- View apps and app items
Apps and app items can be viewed in view-only mode. In this mode, you can access their elements but cannot change the information.
- Delete an app or app item
You can delete unnecessary apps and app items. Deleting destroys all instances for all promotion levels. An app or app item cannot be deleted if it is checked out.
- Print apps and app items
- View history and roll back apps and app items
The history of an app or app item can be viewed in the Item History dialog box. The Item History dialog box also allows for rolling back to earlier versions of the app or item. For files in the Repository, if a file is edited and uploaded again with the same name, its version number is increased. You can roll back to an earlier version if necessary.
- Upload and download apps and app items
- Check in an app
When editing an app, the app is automatically checked out to the user currently editing the app. On the screen, text indicates the first and last name of the user to which the app is checked out. The app is locked and no other user can access it. It remains checked out until it is checked in. Checking in the app automatically increments its version number. During check-in, all associated versions are recorded. To apply changes to any of its items, an app must be checked out and checked back in.
- Undo checkout for an app or app item
Current edits to an app or app item can be undone by undoing checkout. Even after changes have been saved, the checkout can still be undone to discard the most recent changes. When undoing checkout, the app or app item remains at the same version as when editing was begun. Checkout cannot be undone to discard the most recent edits if the edits have been checked in.
- Find references in Application Studio
In Application Studio there are references from items to other items. For example, you may want to find all the references to a particular repository image in forms, or to find which apps reference a particular subapp. References can be found in projects for an item in the project tree, but not for a project itself. References can be found for all apps and items.
- Duplicate an app
You can duplicate an existing app to create a copy. The app must be checked in.
