About apps
Mobile Client allows you to run apps that were developed in Application Studio. You can collect data for a business transaction, such as a cycle count or a purchase order receipt, by running an app that was created for that business transaction.
Mobile Client can perform a variety of functions while running an app. The contents of an app determine which functions Mobile Client performs. An app can instruct Mobile Client to send data to the server or request data from the server. The app can also instruct Mobile Client to send a request to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system through a function call and receive a response from the host ERP system.
You can enter data into an app field by scanning a bar-coded label or using a keyboard. The processing for each app can be different, based on how the app was designed.
In addition, RFID/NFC tag scanning using native iOS is supported by Cloud Inventory®.
Example
For example, you run a Putaway app to enter items in your warehouse inventory. You work through the app by entering the information for each of the following prompts.
-
Enter Branch/Plant
-
Enter Item
-
Enter Location
-
Enter Lot Number
-
Enter Quantity
-
Enter Unit of Measure
After you enter the unit of measure, the Putaway app displays a message indicating that the transaction completed successfully. You can press any key to return to the Enter Item prompt. You can then continue this process for subsequent items.
