About menu exits
The standard menu exits delivered with the system are adequate for basic functions, but individual requirements and business practices may require additional menus or menu exits.
Menu exit definitions include security requirements. Only users with the designated security level or higher can execute them. Menu exits do not appear on users' screens unless they have the required security level to use menu exits.
You use the Menu Exits form to define menu exits. You use the Menus form to define menus.
Each field on the Menu Exits form defines the functions or actions executed when the menu exit is chosen. Menus created with the Menus form consist of arrangements of menu exits and text.
To complete the menu exit fields, you need the following information:
-
The three-character ID to be used as the menu exit ID
-
The menu exit type, for example, menu, command, or program
-
The name of the menu, command, or program that the menu exit calls
-
The description for the menu exit
-
The security level required to use the menu exit function
