Transaction maintenance
- About maintaining transaction files
Maintaining transaction files consists of adjusting the size of the transaction files and periodically purging records in the transaction files.
- Resize a transaction file
You can use the same procedure to resize all DCCLF, DCTXF, and TR01 files.
- Prepare the system to purge transaction files
Preparing the system to purge transaction files involves stopping data transmission from all data collection servers, allowing all pipelines to complete all transactions, and displaying the Transactions DCTXF file to verify no transaction records have a status of *NEW.
- About purging transaction files
As records accumulate, the transaction processing time can increase. For optimum system performance, transaction files should be purged periodically. The purge function removes completed records from DCTXF, TR01, and DCCLF files.
- End subsystem jobs
To end subsystem jobs, you must display and verify jobs are in the DEQW status.
- Purge transaction files
The transaction file purge (TFP) function retrieves disposition codes and retention day numbers from the Transaction Definition file. It purges completed transactions if the Job Date and Transaction Date differ by more than the value in the Retention Days field, or if the Job Date and Status Date differ by by more than the value in the Retention Days field.
- About correcting transactions
Transaction errors are usually caused by incorrect data entry, such as entering data in the wrong field or entering an invalid value in a field. Most transaction records process through the pipeline to the program interface with no intervention. When transaction records contain errors, the program interface flags the records in the DCTXF file with an error status.
- Transaction status codes
The following is a list of transaction status codes in TranConnect.
- About reviewing transaction records from Corrections Workbench
Reviewing transaction records is the first step to correcting transactions that may contain errors. You can review transaction records through the Corrections Workbench tool or the Transactions File (DCTXF).
- Correct transaction records
You can correct transaction records using the Corrections Workbench.

- About held transactions
Depending on field values that were defined in your data collection environment setup, transaction records may be held when specified conditions exist.
- Held transaction statuses
Held transactions can contain one of the following statuses.
- Process held transactions
Processing held transactions involves displaying transactions, determining why transactions are held, and choosing to edit, delete, or release transactions as-is.
