Import a sketch design
About importing a Sketch design into DSI Platform
After a designer exports a design from Sketch, an app developer needs to import it into Mobile Enterprise Platform.
The developer imports the design as a project or a wire, depending on how it was exported from Sketch.
If the wire and assets were exported from Sketch as a project (.zip file), follow the steps to Upload a project.
If the wire was exported from Sketch as a wire (.wire file), follow the steps to Upload a wire.
Upload a project
A project contains all the items for an app. When you download a project from an instance of Platform Manager, the items are exported to a .zip file. Then you can upload the .zip file into another instance of Platform Manager.
Prerequisite: The project to be uploaded must have already been downloaded, which saves the project in a .zip file.
To upload a project .zip file, complete the following steps in Platform Manager.
-
Go to Develop > Application Studio.
-
Select Upload > Project.
-
In the Upload Project dialog box, for Project ID, enter a name for the project that contains only letters, numbers, underscores, and dashes. If you do not enter an ID, the project file name is used.
-
For Select File, select Browse and select the .zip file you want to import, and then select Open.
-
Select Upload.
-
If multiple environments are available, in the Multiple Environments Detected dialog box, select the environment you want to use, and then select Continue Upload.
-
If the Items Conflict dialog box displays, some of the project items already exist in the target instance of Mobile Enterprise Platform. To specify how to handle the conflicts, complete one of the following actions.
-
To retain the current item in the system, select Keep.
-
To replace an item with the one being uploaded, select Replace. This will increase the version number of the item.
-
To replace all conflicting items, under Replace, select the first radio button.
-
-
If the project includes a device database table, complete the following substeps.
-
If multiple connection strings are available, in the Managed DB Table Configuration dialog box, for each DB Table in the project, select the Source Connection String you want to use.
-
If multiple connection strings are available, for each DB Table in the project, select the Middle Tier Connection String you want to use.
-
Optional. For each DB Table in the project, to include the data replication schedule, select Include Schedules.
-
After you finish configuring the databases, select Finish.
-
If a warning dialog box displays and you want to continue recreating the middle tier table, select Proceed, acknowledge the warning, and then select Proceed again.Step InformationwarningIf you specify to replace a device DB table, the system deletes the existing table and its data, and then recreates the table. This action cannot be undone.

-
When all selections are made, select OK.
-
If the Style Group Selection dialog box displays, the uploaded project includes a form and there is more than one style group specified in the system for forms. From the list, select a style group to apply to the form.Step InformationNote: If uploading more than one form, you can select a different style group for each form as long as there are multiple style groups.
-
When all selections are made, select OK.
Results:
-
The project uploads and displays in the Projects section of Application Studio.
-
The uploaded project items also display in each of their respective sections in Application Studio.
Upload a wire
Wires can be uploaded into the Mobile Enterprise Platform.
Note:If there is a development instance of Mobile Enterprise Platform and also a production instance, the wires that are uploaded to the production instance can skip versions.
To upload a wire, complete the following steps in Advanced Inventory Platform Manager.
-
Go to Develop > Application Studio > Wires.
-
Select the Upload Wire button. The corresponding Upload dialog box appears.
-
Enter an ID for the wire.Step InformationNote:If the ID is left blank, it defaults to the name of the wire being uploaded.
-
Browse to the location of the wire to upload. The file extension to look for is .wire.
-
Select the wire to upload.
-
Select Upload.
Result: The wire is uploaded and is checked in. If uploaded successfully, it appears in the list of wires. If not, an error message appears at the top of the Wires page and the uploaded wire does not appear.
