About exporting a Sketch design

Sketch Plugin enables you to export a Sketch design as wire code intended for testing, or as wire code with or without images and design assets to run in Mobile Enterprise Platform.

Export a design for testing

You can export a Sketch design to verify the wire code, or to copy the code and paste it directly into a wire in Mobile Enterprise Platform. This option does not create a file to import into Mobile Enterprise Platform as a wire. For steps, refer to Export a Sketch design file for testing or copying.

Export a design for use in wires

You can export a Sketch design as wire code only, or also include its images and other design assets. Steps for both options are provided in Export a Sketch design for use in wires.

Export a Sketch design for use in wires

When using Sketch Plugin to export a Sketch design for use in Mobile Enterprise Platform, you can export just the wire code, or a bundled file that includes the wire code, images, and other design assets.

Prerequisites:

The Sketch Plugin is installed.
The Sketch design follows the best practices.

To export a Sketch design for use in Mobile Enterprise Platform, complete the following steps in Sketch.

Select Plugins > Export to Wire > Export to MEP Project.
In the MEP Project Properties dialog box, for Wire ID, type a name for the exported design file.
Optional. For Wire Description, type a brief description about the design.
Complete one of the following options.
- Export just the wire: To export the design as just the wire code without images or other assets, select the Export just WireApp file checkbox.
- Export the project: To export the design as a ZIP file that contains the wire code, images, and other assets, leave the Export just WireApp file checkbox unmarked.
Step Information
Select a folder in which to save the file.
Select OK.

Result: The design file is exported and saved to the selected location.

Export a Sketch design file for testing or copying

The Sketch design file can be exported as a code only wire file for testing and checking, or copying the code. This file cannot be imported into Mobile Enterprise Platform as a wire.

To export a file for testing, complete the following steps in Sketch.

From a Sketch design, select Plugins > Export to Wire.
Select Export to Wire.
Select the folder in which to save the file.

Result: The design file is exported and saved to the selected location. This file can be opened in a code editor to check and verify the code. You can also copy code from here to insert directly into a wire in Mobile Enterprise Platform.
