About Cycle Count
The Cycle Count app facilitates the inventory counting process. It helps you identify count materials and filter the materials by storage location and batch. The app prompts you to scan or enter each material included in the count.
You can use this app to complete a scheduled physical inventory document that has been set up as a cycle count in SAP. This app allows you to count one material at a time as you work through the list of required materials.
Count a material for a cycle count
The Cycle Count app allows you to count materials for a scheduled cycle count. The app allows you to count one material at a time until you have counted all materials listed in the physical inventory document in your SAP instance. You can exit the app at any time by pressing F3.
To count a material for a cycle count, complete the following steps in the app.

If the Enter Plant field displays, enter the plant number.Step InformationNote:This field only displays if the _SAP_PLNT_PROMPT configuration value is set to Y.

For Enter Storage Location, enter the storage location associated with the count.

For Enter Inventory Document, enter the physical inventory number associated with the count.

For Enter Material, complete one of the following actions.

Scan or enter the material number that you want to count.

Select Open Items List and select the material number that you want to count.

If the Enter Batch field displays, enter the batch number associated with the material.Step InformationNote:This field only displays if the material is batch-managed.

If the Confirm Item Recount Y/N prompt displays, complete one of the following actions.

To recount the specified material, select Yes.

To return to the previous screen without counting the specified material, select No.
Step InformationNote:This prompt only displays if both of the following statements are true.-
The material has previously been counted for this physical inventory document.

The app is configured to allow recounts, using the _SAP_CC_RECOUNT configuration element in Advanced Inventory Platform Manager.

For Enter Quantity, enter the counted quantity.
Result: The app displays the message "Count successfully submitted!" and the following results occur, as appropriate.

The app updates SAP records with the counted quantity. For more information, refer to Updated Cycle Count settings in SAP.

If additional items remain uncounted, the app displays the "Enter Material" screen.

If all items in the count are counted, the app displays the initial screen.
Postrequisite: Your administrating user must review the completed count in SAP. When reviewing the count, the administrator can either approve or reject the count, potentially resulting in a change to inventory quantity.
Updated Cycle Count settings in SAP
The Cycle Count app allows you to count the materials outlined in a physical inventory document. After you count materials using the app, the transaction updates specific data records in SAP.
Physical inventory document settings
The app modifies the specified production order in SAP. You can verify these updates on the Display Physical Inventory History menu, using Transaction Code MI03. The app records the following settings for each counted item in the document.
Phys.inv.status
The status updates to "Counted".
Count date
The transaction records the current date.
Counted by
The transaction records your SAP username.
Quantity
The transaction records the quantity counted.
Book quantity
The transaction records the expected material quantity at the time of the count.
Difference qty
The transaction records the numerical difference between the counted quantity and the book quantity, if any.
DSI transaction log settings
The app updates Advanced Inventory transaction log in SAP with the completed app transaction. You can verify this update using Transaction Code /n/ZDSI/ZTRAN. The transaction creates a new line in the log, containing the following unique settings.
Date
The date on which the transaction took place.
Time
The time at which the transaction took place, in 24-hour format.
User Name
The Advanced Inventory user who ran the transaction.
Script Name
The transaction displays "CycleCount".
Called Function Name
The transaction displays "/ZDSI/MATPHYSINV_COUNT".
Calling Script Description
The transaction displays the app name.
Generic Field Desc 1 - MDN
Generic Field Data 1 - The transaction displays the material document number.
Generic Field Desc 2 - MDN Yr
Generic Field Data 2 - The transaction displays the year in which the material document was created.
