About UPS Shipping
You can implement the UPS Shipping solution within a shipping app to facilitate various features.
The UPS Shipping solution consists of a Tools Connector and four subapps used to call UPS services and print UPS labels. The solution incorporates a custom connector that interfaces directly with UPS.
The solution supports the following features that occur automatically at the appropriate steps in the app process, without end user input.
-
Retrieve ship rate: The solution calls the UPS rate service and retrieves pricing data for a package based on its supplied source and destination addresses.
-
Process shipments: The solution calls the UPS connector to process shipping data and retrieve a print label generated by UPS.
-
Track packages: The solution calls the UPS tracking service definition to return detailed tracking information for a package. UPS can assign a tracking number to a group of up to four packages.
-
Print labels: The solution prints the label retrieved from UPS. The label data is stored in the server or network location defined in the Connector.UPS.ini file.
The system also offers a FedEx Shipping solution. Other than integrating with a different shipping provider, the FedEx Shipping solution and the UPS Shipping solution offer virtually identical features.
