About Printer and Job Monitor
You can use the Printer and Job Monitor to view the status of printers and print jobs.
You can see print jobs that are currently running, as well as completed jobs. Print jobs that are not yet completed can be paused and resumed.
Monitor a printer
Use Printer and Job Monitor to view printer status, including which site and location the printer is associated with, and to edit some printer information, such as the label media type being used.
To view printer status and edit printer settings, complete the following steps in EPP.

Go to Print > Printer and Job Monitor.

On the Printer and Job Monitor page choose from among the following options.

Filter the printer list: Select Filter to filter printers by criteria such as site, printer type, location, and printer group.

View status of media amounts: For Label or Ribbon, red indicates that the amount of media remaining is less than the critical media threshold that was set, and yellow indicates that the amount of media remaining less than the low media threshold that was set. Refer to About media thresholds.

View or edit additional printer details: Select Edit to view or edit. Refer to Printer and Job Monitor details for a list of settings, tabs, and buttons. Be sure to select Save to save any changes made in this additional window.

Monitor a print job
Use Printer and Job Monitor to monitor and view information about print jobs, including creation date and time, status, and printer. Active, completed, and print jobs completed with errors can be viewed on this page. Print jobs that are not yet completed can be paused and resumed.
To monitor print jobs, complete the following steps in EPP.

Go to Print > Printer and Job Monitor.

Select Active print jobs, Completed print jobs, or Error (print jobs that have completed with errors) to display a list of jobs.

Select a job, and then choose from among the following options.

Cancel: Cancel the print job.

View: View print job details. Refer to Printer and Job Monitor details for a list of job details.

Optional. To save information displayed on the Settings, Control File Details, or Print Job Data tabs on the Print Job Details dialog, select Save To File.

Optional. To pause an active print job, select Pause.Step InformationNote:Pause is only available if the job is currently active.

Optional. To cancel the active print job, select Cancel.

To close the print job details window, select Close.
Printer and Job Monitor details
The following lists describe Printer and Job Monitor details, such as settings, tabs, and buttons.
Printers
To view or edit additional printer details from Printer and Job Monitor, under Printers, select a printer, and then select Edit.
Name
The name assigned to the printer during printer setup.
Site
The site associated with the printer.
Make and Model
The make and model of the printer.
Interpreter
Communication language for the printer type, such as IPL, DPL, ZPL, MBPL, SBPL, PGL, and PCL.
Label Media
Types of labels available.
Amount Used
Amount of label media used per roll, and the number of rolls remaining.
Ribbon Media
Types of ribbon available.
Amount Used
Amount of ribbon media used and remaining.
Connection Type
The type of the printer connection. Valid values are Socket, File, or Local.
System Printer
If the connection type is Local, the name of the local printer.
IP Address
If the connection type is socket, the IP address for the printer.
If the connection type is File, the File Name of the printer.
Port
The URL port on which the printer is listening.
Maintenance Port
This setting is only enabled for Printronix printers.
Location
The location associated with the printer.
Redirect
The IP and port information, similar to the Printer URI, that specifies the redirect destination for this printer.
Monitored
Select or clear the Monitored check box to enable or disable printer monitoring. Printer monitoring is enabled by default. Most networked printers can be configured with or without printer monitoring during setup.
Print Jobs
Displays print jobs for this printer. Filter by Active, Complete, or Error. To view print job details from Printer and Job Monitor, under Print Jobs, select a print job and then select View.
Print Job Details
Name
The system generated name for the print job
Created
Date and time the print job was created.
Status
Status of the print job
In the Print Job Details window the following information is displayed.
Name
The system generated name for the print job.
ID
The system generated ID assigned to the print job.
Printer
The printer where the print job will print, or has already completed printing.
Status
Status of the print job. Possible statuses include.

Aborted: The job has been aborted by the system (usually while the job was in the Processing or Processing_Stopped state), the system has completed aborting the job, and all the job status attributes have reached their final values for the job.

Canceled: The job has been canceled by a user, the printer has completed canceling the job, and all job status attributes have reached their final values for the job.

Completed: The job has completed successfully or with warnings after processing, and all job status attributes have reached their final values for the job.

Pending: The job is a candidate to start processing, but is not yet processing.

Pending_Held: The job is not a candidate for processing for any number of reasons but will return to the Pending state as soon as the reasons are no longer present.

Processing: The job is processing.

Processing_Stopped: The job has stopped while processing for any number of reasons and will return to the Processing state as soon as the reasons are no longer present.

Unknown: The job state is unknown.
Reason
A detailed description of the status.

Completed - The job has completed successfully. System job accounting detects the printer has finished commands.

Completed (Intermec printers)
-
Job completed with warnings - For Intermec printers, the system cannot determine if a job is complete. When commands are sent to the printer, the job state changes to Job completed with warnings meaning no more events are forthcoming.

Processing

Job transforming - The server filter is calling the formatter library to generate printer language commands.

Job queued - The print job from the server has been received on-site and was submitted to the system job queue.

Job outgoing - The job is out of the system job queue and commands are being prepared to be sent to a physical printer.

Queued in device - The printer commands for the job have been delivered to a physical printer.

Created
The date and time the print job was created.
Processed
The date and time the print job was processed.
Completed
Date and time when the print job completed printing.
Redirected
The redirected destination for the print job, if applicable
Info
On the Info tab, additional details about the printer are displayed.
Licensed
When checked, this printer has a valid license associated with it.
Resolution
The printer's DPI
Additional Info
User defined description for the printer.
Firmware Revision
Firmware information retrieved from the printer.
Manufacturer
Manufacturer information retrieved from the printer.
Settings
In this tab, the following items can be set or run.
Preamble
Enter specific commands to be sent to this printer prior to each job.
Postamble
Enter specific commands to be sent to this printer after each print job completes.
Darkness
Set the darkness of the printed label.
Speed
Set the speed of label printing.
Command
In this tab, a free-form command can be sent to the printer.
User Defined Fields
In this tab, fields are provided for the user to enter searchable data.
Additional Printer and Job Monitor actions
At the bottom of the printer details window, the follow functionality is available.

Printer Web Page: Select to display information provided by the printer. This option is only available when editing an existing printer.

Change License: Select to add, change, or remove the license associated with this printer.

Pause: Select to pause the printer. Once a printer is paused the button displays Resume. Select Resume to resume the printer and print job(s).

Print Test Page: Select to send a test page to the printer.

Reset: Select to set the printer back to its default settings.

Close: Select to close the printer details window.

Save: Select to save the changes made to printer details.
