Configure standard security
By default, EPP provides standard security for managing user IDs, names, and passwords. Standard security settings contain default values, which you can change.
Important: If you set up users and roles with Standard security mode enabled and then switch to LDAP or AAD mode, all current users except Admin will be deleted. Determine how your organization manages software users before selecting a security mode in EPP.
To configure standard security settings, complete the following steps in EPP.-
Go to Admin > System Configuration > Security.

Select the Standard Settings tab.

Optional. Edit the Minimum Password Length to the desired number. The default is 8.

Optional. You can disable Require Complex Passwords if desired. It is enabled by default.

Optional. You can decide that user passwords expire after a certain number of days, and that a specific number of passwords are retained in EPP. This is disabled by default. If you enable Passwords Expire, complete the following steps.

Edit Number of Days Before Expiration to the desired number. The default is 90.

Edit Number of Passwords to Retain to the desired number. The default is 5.

Optional. You can disable Lockout After Failed Logon Attempts if desired. It is enabled by default. If the lockout option remains enabled, you can complete the following step.

Edit Number of Attempts Allowed to the desired number. The default is 3.

Select Save, and then Close.
Standard security configuration settings
The following list provides setting information for configuring standard security in EPP.

Standard Settings
Minimum Password Length
The required minimum length for all user passwords.
Default: 8
Require Complex Passwords
The password associated with each user ID must be complex. A complex password must have at least one number, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one special character.
Default: Enabled
Passwords Expire
A user password expires based on the number specified.
Users receive a warning message five days prior to the day the password expires.
Default: Disabled
Number of Days Before Expiration
Number of days before a password expires.
Default: 90
Number of Passwords to Retain
Number of previously used passwords remembered for a user by EPP. While passwords are retained in the application memory, they cannot be reused by a user ID.
Default: 5
Lockout After Failed Logon Attempts
A user who provides an incorrect password cannot log in to EPP after the number of attempts specified.
Default: Enabled
Number of Attempts Allowed
Number of login attempts allowed before access to the application is blocked for a particular user ID.
