About security
You select the security mode that determines how Enterprise Printing Platform ™ manages user IDs, names, and passwords.
Although standard security is provided by default, EPP offers multiple options for creating and managing user information and passwords. Determine how your organization manages software users before selecting a security mode in EPP, because if you switch to another mode after creating users, all users except Admin are deleted.
User security can be managed in one of the following ways.
-
Standard: Storage and management of user profiles locally (within EPP).
-
LDAP: Utilization of a secure or non-secure connection to an external Microsoft LDAP server from which user profile information is imported. Users are managed on the external server.
-
LDAP: Utilization of a non-secure connection to an external Oracle LDAP server from which user profile information is imported. Users are managed on the external server.
-
AAD: Utilization of Azure Active Directory, a Microsoft cloud user directory service from which user profile information is imported. Users are managed in the cloud service.
You configure both LDAP and AAD security configuration in three steps. First, you give EPP the details necessary for communication with the external database, then you map the specific information you need, and, finally, you turn on and schedule the agent that extracts the information. Refer to Configure LDAP security and Configure AAD security.
