About certificate management
Enterprise Printing Platform supports the use of SSL/TLS (ITU-TX.509 standard) certificates for secure web connections. The server contains a private key and publishes the public key. Data encrypted with a private key can only be decoded with the public key. Additionally, data encoded with the public key can be decoded with the private key.
Self-generated or authority provided certificates can be loaded to ensure that the EPP application itself can utilize a secure web connection. This functionality allows you to establish an HTTPS address for accessing the application.
An existing security certificate can be uploaded via EPP to allow a secure connection to your LDAP database if required. At this time, EPP supports HTTP connections to both Oracle® and Microsoft Active Directory® servers. This application also supports HTTPS connections to Microsoft Active Directory®.
When you enter https:// in a browser address bar, you request a secure connection and the server returns its certificates. If your browser does not trust the server's certificates,a warning displays. After a browser displays a trust warning it is still possible to obtain an encrypted connection.
Note: Certificates must be Distinguished Encoding Rules (DER) encoded.
