About label types
When EPP is integrated with NetSuite, there are two basic types of labels you can print from within NetSuite records: Item labels and Transaction labels.
Item Labels
An item label enables you to print one or more labels for each line item of a transaction. For example, a label for each case of goods on an item receipt.
The options on the Cloud Inventory® EPP Label records allow you to specify the number of labels for each line item. Labels can be either one-per-line or one-per-item (the quantity of the line). To override those two options with a set quantity, a column has been added to the item line on the transaction itself. If you enter a specific quantity, the number of labels printed for that line is locked to that quantity.
An Item label must use a predefined saved search to create the fields for the label. We recommend testing your search to ensure it returns the data you expect.
Note:Ensure the Custom Label field on the Results tab matches the EPP field name.
Transaction Labels
A transaction label prints one or more labels for a transaction. Examples of this include shipping labels or packing lists for item fulfillment. This type of label has both body and detail fields.
Body Fields
This field can be found in a single place within the transaction, such as the order number or customer name.
Item Detail Fields
Detail fields are repeatable fields used to build an item detail list on a label. These fields include information such as the item name and order quantity. You can read the fields from the item sublist on the NetSuite record in top-down order. To determine the field name sent to the EPP printer, you must specify a field name, followed by a line number. For example, if you enter ItemDescription, then ItemDescription1 is the description of the first line, ItemDescription2 is the second line, and so on.
Dynamic Values
For both body and item fields, the data returned depends upon the NetSuite ID and other criteria selected in the Dynamic Values section. If the NetSuite field is a check box field, you can select Field is Check Box. If the field is intended to be a repeatable detail line, select Field is Item Detail Line.
You can also use a predefined Saved Search to create the fields for a transaction label. We recommend testing your search to ensure that it returns the expected data. Then, set the Custom Label on the Results tab to the matching EPP field name.
Static Values
If the field includes information about your company, use the controls in the Static Values section to select name and address information from company-wide information in NetSuite. You can make updates at Setup > Company > Setup Tasks > Company Information.
If the field requires a static value for every label, you can instead use the override field to specify a value.
