About the wave picking process
You can optionally use the Direct solution to facilitate a directed wave picking process in order to ensure efficient picking and packing in your warehouse.
This process allows you to manage which users pick specific sales order items in specific locations of the warehouse. It also allows you to optionally create fulfillments for waves while the sales order is partially picked. This allows the waves to be packed and shipped before the rest of the sales order is complete.
Various apps and features are used to implement the wave picking process. Refer to the following process diagram and the descriptions below.
The process begins in the Pick Management app, where a supervisor or administrator creates picking waves and assigns warehouse users to pick those waves. Each wave is associated with inventory items on a sales order. Refer to About Pick Management.
Next, picking users must run the Order Pick - Wave app, select a wave that has been assigned to them, and pick the required items. Refer to About Order Pick - Wave.
When a user completely picks all items associated with a sales order, depending on whether the Create Wave Item Fulfillments configuration element is enabled, either the app or an administrator creates a fulfillment for the order. Refer to Fulfill Waves settings.
After the wave is picked and the associated fulfillment is created, packing users can use the Order Pack app to pack the items into boxes. Then, depending on your configuration settings, users can either use the Order Pack app or the Ship Confirm app to ship the items to the customer. Refer to About Order Pack and About Ship Confirm.
