About Location Transfer

The Location Transfer app allows you to transfer warehouse inventory items from one warehouse location to another facility. During the transaction, you can specify the destination bin for the transferred items at the destination location.

By allowing scanner entry and multiple transfers in a single transaction, this app facilitates efficient transfers in your warehouse.

During a transaction, you can simultaneously transfer any number of inventory items from the specified location to the specified destination. Additional transactions are required to send an item to more than one warehouse location.

Location Transfer NetSuite settings

In order for users to transfer quantities of inventory items to other warehouse locations using the Location Transfer app, the necessary data records in NetSuite must exist. The following table lists the NetSuite data records that the app can reference for all items that you want to transfer.

To edit inventory item settings, navigate to Lists > Accounting > Items and either create a new inventory item or edit an existing inventory item.

Item number

Create the inventory item record.

Required

Display ID

Create a description for the item.

Optional

Location

Associate the item with every applicable warehouse location in the system.

Required

On-Hand Quantity

Specify the quantity on hand for the inventory item in the desired warehouse locations.

Use Bins

Select this check box.

Required

Bins

For every source destination, specify the bin(s) associated with the inventory item.

Note:This app does not support items in receiving bins.

Optional

Lot number

For every source destination, specify the lot(s) associated with the inventory item.

Optional

Serial number

For every source destination, specify the serial number associated with the inventory item.

Optional

UPC Code

To support item UPC scanning, specify the UPC code associated with the item.

Transfer an inventory item to another warehouse location

The Location Transfer app allows you to move the specified quantity of inventory items from one warehouse to another facility. You can simultaneously transfer multiple types of inventory items from the same location.

Prerequisites:

The Direct bundle is installed and configured on your NetSuite instance, and is updated to the latest version.
The target inventory items are configured as records in NetSuite.

To transfer inventory items from one location to another location, complete the following steps in Location Transfer.

In the header, ensure that your current location is selected.

Step Information
For From Location, select the current warehouse location associated with the desired inventory.
For To Location, select the destination for the transfer.
For Enter / Scan Item, scan or enter the desired item number or UPC.
Expected Result
Result: One of the following results occurs.

If the item is not bin-controlled, lot-controlled, or serial-controlled, you remain on the current page and can enter the inventory quantity to transfer.

If the item is bin-controlled, lot-controlled, or serial-controlled, the Inventory Details page displays.
If the inventory item is bin-controlled, lot-controlled, or serial-controlled, complete the following substeps for each transferred instance of the item.

Step Information

Note:The page lists all existing combinations of bins, lots, and serial numbers for the selected inventory item.
1. For each desired combination of bin, lot, and serial number, for Enter Qty, enter the desired inventory quantity to transfer from the specified warehouse location.
2. Select OK.
Optional. To transfer additional items in this transaction, for Enter / Scan Item, scan or enter the desired item UPC.
Select Create Transfer.
Expected Result

Result: The approval screen displays.

This screen lists all inventory items prepared for transfer. Each item displays the following data.
Source bin (if applicable)

Item number

Lot or serial number (if applicable)

Quantity to transfer

Quantity at original location prior to transfer
Optional. If the transfer includes binned items, for To Bin, enter or select the desired destination bin in the destination warehouse for all binned items in the transaction.

Step Information

Note:If no bin is selected in this list, the binned items are transferred as loose items to the destination location.
On the Summary page, if the selected settings are accurate, select Approve Location Transfer.

Result: The app displays the "Success" message. In addition, the app displays the NetSuite transaction ID of the transfer. The app then returns to the first screen.

Updated Location Transfer settings

Location Transfer allows you to move inventory items from warehouse location to another facility.

You can edit the following NetSuite settings using Location Transfer.

Setting	Update
Inventory Transfer Number	A new Inventory Transfer record is created using the transfer settings selected in the app transaction.
On-Hand Quantity (Source Location)	Subtracts the quantity moved from the source location.
On-Hand Quantity (Source Bin)	Subtracts the quantity moved from the source bin.
On-Hand Quantity (Destination Location)	Adds the quantity moved to the destination location.
On-Hand Quantity (Destination Bin)	Adds the quantity moved to the destination bin.
