About configuring Direct for NetSuite
The installed package file automatically configures some of the required NetSuite settings. Additional configuration steps are required to best meet your business requirements.
DSI Direct licenses
When you enter your NetSuite license key during the initial solution configuration, you receive a set number of user licenses that are stored in your NetSuite instance. Every time you configure a user to access Direct, one license is associated with the user. You can remove a user from Direct to regain the user's associated license.
DSI Direct configuration elements
Configuration elements let you control the behavior of your Direct apps. This procedure includes defining the default values set for specific fields, as well as how certain options display in the apps. You can assign configuration elements at three levels: company, app-specific, and user-specific. Unique configuration elements are available at each level. Configuration elements assigned at the company level apply to every user experience with the app, and configuration elements assigned at the user level create exceptions for specific user experiences.
For example, if you set the company value of the Default Location configuration element to Warehouse A, then every Direct user has a default location assigned as Warehouse A in every Direct app. Continuing the example, if you assign a user-level value of Warehouse B to the Location configuration element for user John, then John's default location is assigned as Warehouse B in every Direct app.
App access by user
You must specify which apps a user can access from the Direct App Menu. If you do not provide a user access to an app, the user will not be able to view or run the app. This configuration step allows you to optionally prevent individual users from accessing certain secure apps, such as Inventory Adjustment or Inventory Count Review.
Label printing
Some versions of Direct support label printing through Cloud Inventory's® Enterprise Printing Platform (EPP) product.
After Enterprise Printing Platform (EPP) is installed with at least one Bridge application, and after setting up the EPP printers, data dictionaries, and label templates required for your Direct solution, you must add the corresponding printer names and label names in the Configurations menu.
After setting up your preferred label printing behavior, you can also configure third-party ASN integration for your printed labels, as well as assign default labels to be printed for specific customers.
NetSuite permissions
You must ensure that each NetSuite user is assigned to a role with specific NetSuite permissions in order for the users to access Direct apps.
For a more secure environment, you can avoid assigning particular permissions to a role. As a result, users with that role will not receive access to any applicable app transactions. For example, we recommend restricting access to Inventory Adjustment to all but one specialized user.
App-specific NetSuite settings
After configuring the Direct solution as a whole, you must configure the NetSuite records and settings that each app calls during a transaction. In order to complete a transaction using a Direct app, your NetSuite instance must already include standard records for each warehouse record used in the transaction. Ideally, standard warehouse operations should regularly edit these records in order to ensure up-to-date records.
